U.S. bank J.P. Morgan has added Ethereum as a transfer route for JPM Coin (JPMD), giving institutional clients another public blockchain option for moving dollar deposits.

JPMD is the bank’s token for U.S. dollar deposits. Its Ethereum mainnet service went live Oct. 19, supporting transfers between institutional clients through Ethereum-compatible wallets. Ethereum is open to public use, but JPMD access remains limited to the bank’s institutional clients.

JPMD first became available on Base, an Ethereum layer 2 network, on Nov. 12, 2025, as detailed in EconoTimes’ earlier report on the Base rollout. J.P. Morgan cited Ethereum’s liquidity and the tokenized assets available on the network when explaining the decision to add it.

Emma Landriault, global head of Kinexys Labs at Kinexys by J.P. Morgan, said offering JPMD on both networks gives institutional clients a choice for wholesale fund transfers.

J.P. Morgan Asset Management has also launched two tokenized money market funds on Ethereum. MONY launched Dec. 15, 2025, and JLTXX followed on May 13, 2026.
