J.P. Morgan Asset Management has left Bitcoin (BTC) out of its main portfolio models because its price swings and changing relationships with other assets complicate long-term allocations.
The firm’s outlook covers 10 to 15 years. It is the asset manager’s first long-term Bitcoin return range.
That return range differs from realized volatility, which describes how widely prices moved in the past, counting gains and losses. An earlier EconoTimes comparison of Bitcoin’s realized volatility recorded 43% annualized volatility over the previous year, compared with the asset’s 64% 10-year average.
Those historical figures do not quantify the forward-looking risk assumptions behind the firm’s outlook.
