Invested more than $300 Million in Sustainability-Related Projects in 2017
Committed to 20 percent GHG Emission Intensity Reduction; 10 percent Water-Use Intensity Reduction; 12 percent Electricity-Use Intensity Reduction; and 20 percent Natural Gas-Use Intensity Reduction across North America by 2020

GREELEY, Colo., April 11, 2018 -- JBS USA, the world’s second largest branded food company in terms of revenue and the worldwide leader in meat and poultry-based food solutions, today announced the release of its 2017 Sustainability Report and 2020 Sustainability Targets.

The 2017 report details JBS USA’s environmental, social and economic achievements in 2017, while establishing a clear path for future sustainable progress through its 2020 Sustainability Targets.
In 2017, JBS USA reduced the intensity of its water use by 6.2 percent, natural gas by 6.3 percent, electricity by 5.2 percent and greenhouse gas emissions by 7.6 percent, compared to 2016. In addition, the company outperformed industry averages in team member health and safety metrics, and scored 90 percent or greater on all external animal welfare audits. JBS USA also continued its active contributions to local communities, highlighted by a $12.5 million investment in Colorado State University to establish the JBS Global Food Innovation Center in Fort Collins, Colo.
JBS USA also announced ambitious 2020 sustainability improvement targets, further demonstrating the company’s commitment to doing things the right way. The company committed to reducing the intensity of its water use by 10 percent, natural gas use by 20 percent, electricity use by 12 percent, and greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent by 2020. In addition, the company committed to improving team member health and safety by reducing severe incidents by 10 percent year over year, achieving annual scores of 90 percent or better on the company’s Animal Health and Welfare Scorecard and ensuring 100 percent compliance from suppliers with its Supplier Code of Business Ethics and Conduct by 2020.
