“Jack Ryan” Season 2 is expected to come out sometime this fall and fans can’t wait what the titular analyst-turned-field-agent will tackle next. As has already been revealed, the next installment will be bringing Jack (John Krasinski) to South America to deal with the declining democracy plaguing the region.
Apart from the political intrigue, “Jack Ryan” Season 2 will also be tackling with the drug trade problem of the country and exposing the involvement of several people in power. Working along Jack is James Greer (Wendell Pierce), the operative’s mentor in Tom Clancy’s novels, Screen Rant reported.
Although Greer has been sent off to Russia after helping stop the multi-tiered attacks of Suleiman (Ali Suliman), he’s expected to help Jack with the problems in the northern borders. However, Greer’s location will be an obstacle in his collaboration with Jack as has been revealed by showrunner Graham Roland. Apart from these two main characters, Dr. Cathy Mueller (Abbie Cornish) will also be included in the ensemble of “Jack Ryan” Season 2.
Regarding who’s sitting behind the director’s chair for the second entry, showrunners Roland and Carlton Cuse said they would not be taking this responsibility. “I am not directing in [Jack Ryan Season 2]. A lot of that has to do with everything else that's going on in my life and the way things just worked out. I love directing, but I still love showrunning more,” Cuse said.
Roland, on the other hand, said that his decision stems from him wanting to oversee the production of “Jack Ryan” Season 2. Directing an episode for the political thriller is a six-month commitment since filming is spread out. Thus, it would be impossible for Roland to supervise production and attend to other duties such as rewriting scripts. As for the future of the series, Amazon has already greenlighted the third installment ahead of the release of the second entry, a testament to the streaming giant’s confidence in the show.
