Jaguar has put a £129,950 on-the-road price on the Type 01 in Britain, setting a commercial benchmark for the marque’s planned shift to an all-electric luxury lineup.
The four-door grand tourer debuted in New York on Oct. 6. Jaguar expects to begin taking orders in early 2027, followed by first customer deliveries in the second half of the year. The company separately anticipates a U.S. starting price of $130,500.
Jaguar Land Rover Automotive plc (JLR) specifies a usable 118-kilowatt-hour battery and output of up to 1,030 PS. It says the car can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds. Jaguar estimates a maximum range of 450 miles under the WLTP test cycle, while JLR gives an estimate of up to 400 miles using the U.S. EPA cycle. The figures use different test cycles and remain subject to final approval.
JLR announced in 2021 that Jaguar would become its exclusively electric luxury brand, with a strategy emphasizing profit over sales volume. Its other brands will continue to offer a mix of powertrains, and JLR has named North America a priority growth market. The company has described distinct roles for its brands as part of its growth strategy.
JLR plans to begin Type 01 production in 2027 at Solihull, England. It says battery packs and electric drive units will come from Wolverhampton, while pressed body panels will be made in Halewood. JLR says the British production footprint will benefit its workers and suppliers. As of Oct. 7, it reported £11.5 billion in investment in next-generation vehicles under a five-year program of £15 billion to £18 billion announced in 2024. That spending covers JLR’s wider vehicle program, not the Type 01 alone.
The launch follows Jaguar’s 2024 identity redesign and Type 00 concept. Jaguar’s December 2024 Type 00 announcement projected a production-car reveal in late 2025. Jaguar’s 2024 promotional film, which showed models and no vehicle, drew criticism, the Associated Press reported. The next commercial milestone is the planned opening of orders in early 2027.
