“Jane The Virgin” Season 5 has been announced as the final installment for the satiric-comedy series but it appears that a spinoff is in early development within the CW doors. However, the network announced that it will not follow any of the characters in “Jane The Virgin,” which confused a lot of the show’s fan base.
As an explanation, CW said that the spinoff will be an anthology series following the novels penned by none other than Jane (Gina Rodriguez) herself. Rodriguez will be replacing the iconic narrator of the series and will guide fans as the plot unfolds. While nothing has been confirmed just yet, this heavily indicates that Jane will finally reach her dreams of being a successful novelist. It also hints at how “Jane The Virgin” Season 5 will end and how Jane’s life will shape after her story comes to a close.
However, there are still a lot of loose threads to tie in the upcoming fifth installment. The biggest of this is the fact that Michael (Brett Dier) is alive after years of being absent in Jane’s life. It’s still unclear how exactly Michael survived his supposed death but fans have been offering a lot of explanation for the plot twist. Michael’s arrival threw a monkey wrench on the blossoming relationship of Jane and Rafael (Justin Baldoni) as Jane is still technically married to the policeman. This development has polarized the series’ following with half of them hoping that Jane will choose Michael, while the rest are hoping she’ll stay with Rafael in “Jane The Virgin” Season 5.
Whoever Jane chooses, show creator Jennie Snyder Urman assures fans that the final installment will deliver all the expectations that everyone wants and more. Co-producer Chantelle Wells also released a similar sentiment saying that “Jane The Virgin” Season 5 is the best work they’ve done so far.
This is quite the tall claim since the previous installments contained a lot of iconic scenes that will be difficult to match. From Jane’s marriage to the plot twist that dropped everyone’s jaw – “Jane The Virgin” Season 5 will be hard pressed at delivering a story that would rival its predecessors. As for when the fifth installment will be released, it’s been slated to air on the spring of 2019.
