Asahi Breweries' Future Lemon Sour, a chu-hi with a real lemon slice, returns to stores next month. The initial release sold out quickly due to high demand, but a new limited batch will be available in select regions starting August 27.
Asahi Breweries' Future Lemon Sour, Featuring a Real Lemon Slice, Returns Next Month
Chu-hi is the most popular canned alcoholic beverage in Japan, second only to beer. Chu-hi, or "sour," is a blend of shochu, soda water, and citrus flavors. The lemon chu-hi, a variety you and many others have enjoyed, is the most widely consumed.
However, the name ("raw") chu-hi, prepared by directly squeezing lemon juice into a glass, is widely regarded as the superior version of the drink despite the convenience of ready-to-drink canned chu-hi. Asahi Breweries recently developed the Future Lemon Sour (Mirai no Lemon Sour in Japanese) to combine the best of both worlds. This canned chu-hi removes the entire cap and contains a lemon slice, providing a unique and refreshing drinking experience.
As SoraNews24 reported, the Future Lemon Sour was released for sale in mid-June. After sampling a few cans, it was clear the flavor was captivating. The drink's overwhelming demand resulted in the entire production run selling out almost immediately.
Consequently, it has been impossible to obtain since. However, a new batch is coming, and the Future Lemon Sour will be restocked in stores next month, just in time for summer.
Future Lemon Sour Restocks in Tokyo and Eastern Prefectures on August 27, Limited Quantities
The sweetened Original and the drier Plain variants of the Future Lemon Sour will be reintroduced, though they will not be available nationwide. The restock will be accessible in Tokyo and the eastern prefectures of Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Tochigi, Ibaraki, Gunma, Nagano, and Niigata.
Future Lemon Sour is a premium-priced product in the realm of canned sours, priced at 298 yen (US$1.85). However, it remains an affordable indulgence. The restock will be available on August 27, but it will be a limited-quantity event, necessitating the acquisition of more than one or two cans again. Coca-Cola is working tirelessly to ensure a more robust supply chain to meet the anticipated demand soon.
This exclusivity, coupled with the limited-quantity event, adds to the product's allure, making it a must-have for all chu-hi enthusiasts and a unique opportunity you won't want to miss.
