Jordan wants to work more closely with Kazakhstan on regional threats, including terrorism and extremism, King Abdullah II said during talks with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ahead of a regional meeting on artificial intelligence security.
Kazakhstan’s presidency, which released the leaders’ remarks, said their agenda also covered defense, technology, tourism, investment and trade. Tokayev called economic cooperation an important part of the relationship and urged both sides to carry out agreements already reached.
The presidency said Tokayev pointed to last year’s exchange of visits and the joint statement and other documents signed by government agencies and businesses. He also cited scope for stronger cultural and humanitarian links, including through academic and scientific exchanges and increased tourism.
Abdullah said the two countries intended to keep advancing their existing agreements and broaden cooperation in areas of shared interest. He also thanked Tokayev for co-hosting a new round of the Aqaba Process, which Abdullah described as a joint effort to address regional and global security challenges.
The meeting is scheduled for Friday in Astana and will be the Aqaba Process’ first gathering in Central Asia, the presidency said. Tokayev said the session would address security concerns involving artificial intelligence and give Central Asian countries a forum to present their views on the issue.
Kazakhstan’s presidency said Tokayev noted that Abdullah launched the Aqaba Process more than a decade ago. EconoTimes previously reported on the planned Central Asian meeting.
