‘Just Cause 3” is one of the most successful AAA games of 2016 thanks to its destructive gameplay where player can wreak havoc and be rewarded for it. However, just as the title’s predecessor “Just Cause 2” benefitted immensely from a multiplayer mod, so too were players hoping that the latest iteration would be given the same feature. Unfortunately, because “Avalanche Studios” decided to hire the modders that were going to provide the third installment in the franchise its multiplayer platform, the mod has been cancelled.
As Techno Buffalo put it, “JC2” was an amazing game that was made even more so when the multiplayer mod was added to the game by the players themselves. This allowed for untold mayhem that could only be achieved by allowing core fans of the game free reign in a single server. This is also what allowed the game to be relevant even today, years after it was released and with the latest installment having been available for several months.
As such, many gamers are left disappointed by the news that the multiplayer mod for “JC3” would be cancelled after “Avalanche Studios” decided to hire the modders. Now, players will have to wait even longer for someone else to make the mod.
Posting on the project’s forum page, the mod lead Cameron Foote explained why they had to cancel the mod.
“As part of Avalanche, I’ll be able to bring many of the things you know and love from JC2-MP into future Avalanche experiences, while reaching heights that a mere mod couldn’t facilitate,” Foote writes. “Unfortunately, due to time constraints, neither I or the rest of the team can actively pursue development on JC3-MP; our lives are just too busy to allow for it right now.”
Then again, News Ledge did note the obvious fact that the modders were hired by the makers of the games precisely because of the skills and expertise they displayed when they made the mod for the previous title. So even if the next multiplayer mod for “JC3” won’t be made by the same team, fans can look forward to future projects that will bear some similarity to their past works.
