Fans waited for the announcement of “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” season 2 for more than six months. Now that they finally got the confirmation for the second installment, many have been asking the next major detail — the release date of new episodes.
'Kaguya-Sama: Love is War' season 2 release date announcement not happening this year?
It is not strange for anime and manga companies to confirm a series renewal while holding off the release date announcement because that is the usual practice in the industry. But there are some indications that “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” season 2’s release date announcement might be happening sometime in the new decade.
Jump Festa 2020 is one of the very few anime conventions set this year, and it happens to be hosted by Shueisha. However, the events during Jump Festa are commonly focused on the biggest anime and manga franchises like “One Piece,” “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations,” and “My Hero Academia.”

There is no doubt that “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” became one of the most successful rookie anime series of 2019. But if the season 2 release date announcement happens in the middle of events dedicated to much bigger titles, it might not get as much attention as it deserves. Jump Festa 2020 is happening a couple of weeks before the year ends. So fans may want to expect that the release date window of “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” season 2 could be revealed in 2020.
On the other hand, the hype that Jump Festa would induce across the anime-loving community could also be a good reason to reveal within this month when “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” season 2 will premiere. Shueisha has yet to confirm that the anime would return in 2020, but that is very likely going to be the case here.
'Kaguya-Sama: Love is War' season 2 plot, cast, production updates
Fans are right to expect that the efforts of Kaguya and Miyuki to mask their feelings and trap the other person into confessing their love would only intensify in “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” season 2. But the intensifying efforts in the mind games would only result in clearer manifestation that they are in love with one another.
