Kalshi's contract still puts an Anthropic initial public offering (IPO) announcement before December above even odds, but the price has fallen, a shift CNBC linked to concerns that Democratic control of Congress could slow data-center construction.
On Friday, the contract for an official announcement before December implied a 57% chance, after sitting above 85% a week earlier. Another Kalshi contract, measuring an announcement before January 2027, stood at 68%, versus 90% a week earlier. Each market has its own deadline and concerns the timing of an official announcement.
The contracts are separate from an earlier market tied to a Nov. 1 cutoff. EconoTimes previously reported that the Nov. 1 contract was near zero ahead of its deadline.
CNBC said investors worried that Democratic victories in the House and Senate could slow data-center construction and make AI investments less attractive. Gov.-elect Gina Hinojosa, a Democrat, defeated three-term Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and campaigned in Texas for tighter protocols governing data-center construction, CNBC reported. Hinojosa told CNN Thursday that Texas should pause data-center work until protections were in place.
CNBC also reported that Anthropic confidentially filed an IPO prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission in June.
CNBC's market figures put the Nasdaq Composite more than 10% below its recent peak at Thursday's close, crossing Wall Street's correction threshold. The outlet reported that the S&P 500 fell 4.4% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average 3.4% that day. Friday morning ET, the Nasdaq and S&P 500 rose 1.3% and 0.7%, respectively, while the Dow was 0.2% lower, CNBC reported.
CNBC's report showed a rebound in technology shares as well. Its figures put Micron Technology and Nvidia roughly 4% higher Friday morning ET after sharp declines the previous day, while CoreWeave advanced more than 2% after a roughly 10% fall Wednesday. The outlet said steep weekly losses persisted across those stocks.
CNBC disclosed that its ties to Kalshi include efforts to bring customers to the platform and a minority investment in the company.
