SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 30, 2017 -- Double-Tree Post Acute Care Center, which contracts with Mariner Health Central, Inc., is pleased to announce that the American College of Health Care Administrators honored its former Administrator, Kathleen Lovato, with the 2017 Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award. Fewer than 9% of skilled nursing facility Administrators nationwide qualify.
Based on the premise that facility excellence reflects leadership excellence, this award recognizes the administrator of record who provided that leadership throughout the award year. Eligibility for this award is based on three years of skilled nursing facility survey data, including the Health, Fire (Life Safety), and Complaint Surveys, as well as top quartile performance on designated Quality Measures. The criteria also includes an 80% or greater facility occupancy and a three year avoidance of a Special Focus Facility status.
Ms. Lovato started as a Red Cross Volunteer in skilled nursing facilities. While working in healthcare facilities and physician practices, she obtained certificates as a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Activity Director. In 1990, she became a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Wanting to share her love, knowledge and passion for the elderly with others, Ms. Lovato became a Preceptor for Administrators in training. It was this last leg of developing, coaching and mentoring an Administrator-in-Training for the Double-Tree Post Acute Care Center while serving as the Administrator of record that led to the development of an outstanding team and the Eli Picking Award.
Realizing that most leaders know that their accomplishment is a direct reflection of their team’s success, upon receiving the award Ms. Lovato said, “I am humbled to receive the Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award. While I am honored to be recognized by the ACHCA for my leadership, it takes a hard-working, dedicated team to provide the level of care that Double-Tree Post Acute Care Center has been recognized for. The Double-Tree Post Acute Team worked together with me to make a difference in the lives of the facility patients and residents and the prestigious Eli Picking Award is a recognition of their hard work and dedication.”
“Advancing leadership excellence is at the core of our mission. There is a close relationship between facility leadership and quality outcomes and, ultimately, between quality care and operational success,” said Linda Taetz, President of Double-Tree Post Acute Care Center. “Kathleen has served as an administrator for over two decades and throughout her career has touched and influenced many lives. Her dedication and commitment to residents, patients, staff and the local community have remained constant. She has been a mentor to many, sharing her knowledge and creating an environment where the employees at Double-Tree were able to learn and experience the rewards of working collaboratively in long term care. She constantly encouraged and empowered her staff to meet the needs and expectations of the elderly. Kathleen is a trendsetter for other administrators and demonstrates a positive image to her facility, company and community.”
