Chapter 184 of Kimetsu no Yaiba seems to be bringing the story into a series of shocking events. Spoilers for the chapter imply that Tanjiro may not just be dead, but he may be turning into something else.

The initial leaks of what is to come for the characters in chapter 184 revealed that Tanjiro is going to die. Although it is understandable that this would be met with skepticism as Muzan is still alive and thus would not make sense that Tanjiro would get killed off at this time. That is, unless, he will undergo a kind of transformation, a possibility that fans choose to think of instead.

If that is the case, Tanjiro’s supposed death will be a way for him to harness the memory of how he can do the 13th form of the dance of the fire god. Another leaked scan showed Muzan declaring that Tanjiro is dead, but naturally, the story may not end there. This led fans into thinking that maybe Tanjiro’s supposed death is going to turn him into a demon, and Muzan’s dialogue seems to back up that theory.

Muzan says that he mixes his own blood into his attacks, but he also says that the blood he used on his attack on Tanjiro will not turn him into a demon. Instead, his attack will kill Tanjiro. So it brings up the question of what will happen to Tanjiro then, now that Muzan has attacked him. Whatever will happen to him remains to be seen.

Previously in chapter 183 of Kimetsu no Yaiba, the final battle between the demon slayers and Muzan has begun. There was a flashback to how Yushiro faked the death of pillars and took control of Nakime. Because Nakime has Muzan’s blood in her, Muzan takes this as an opportunity to control her in order to get to Yushiro. However, he ended up failing due to an attack by Giyu and Iguro.

This resulted in Muzan killing Nakime that ended up in the fortress collapsing. When Muzan turned to attack Mitsuri, Tanjiro threw a slayer’s sword at him, piercing his head.
