King Charles Could 'Disappear Completely' as He 'Struggles' to Connect with British Public, Royal Author Claims

King Charles is in “danger of disappearing completely” as he is having a hard time connecting with the British public, royal author Clive Irving claimed. The withering assessment comes after the British monarch’s historic coronation in May.

King Charles Being Compared with the Late Queen Elizabeth II

It can be recalled that, in May, the nation gathered together in an all-too-rare display of togetherness to celebrate King Charles' crowning at Westminster Abbey, a ceremony steeped in ancient ritual and filled with bling at a time when the monarchy was struggling to remain relevant in a broken modern Britain. However, according to royal scholar Clive Irving, that brief period of hope has now been replaced by a sense of indifference toward the King's reign.

The author of “The Last Queen” and royal columnist for The Daily Beast offered a dismal picture of the current state of affairs in an exclusive interview with Express UK. "When Charles appears, he doesn't connect. I felt that very strongly at the time of the coronation that he looked almost morose throughout the whole ceremony. It's almost as though he's in danger of disappearing completely from the public consciousness,” he told the publication.

According to the royal author, King Charles has failed to step out from the great shadow created by the late Queen Elizabeth II. "He's never been able to connect in the way that his mother connected,” Clive furthered.

Following his mother's passing in September 2022, King Charles had extraordinarily large shoes to fill. Throughout her 70 years of public service, Queen Elizabeth II endeared herself to the nation, showering a bit of royal stardust on communities around the United Kingdom.

"The most glaring thing at the moment is that after a year it's become stunningly clear how brilliant the Queen was at the job and how poor he is at the job. She [the Queen] connected through the TV screen or with people in person. When Charles appears, he doesn't connect,” Irving continued.

King Charles’ Beloved Pal Dies at 77

Meanwhile, King Charles has received tragic news that his cherished friend Donald Cameron of Lochiel has died at the age of 77. Tory MSP Donald Cameron, the 27th head of Clan Cameron, died in his sleep in Scotland last Friday, per Daily Mail.

For starters, Cameron and his wife, Lady Cecil Nennella Therese Kerr, were close companions of King Charles. The Christening of Donald Cameron of Lochiel's daughter, Catherine, was sponsored by the British monarch himself.

“My whole family is devastated by the sudden death of my father last week. He was the most courageous and loving of men, who adored his family, friends and the wider community in Lochaber. As clan chief and Lord Lieutenant of Inverness, he was at the heart of life in the West Highlands and although he lived with MS (multiple sclerosis) for many years, he was always positive and uncomplaining. We will miss him greatly but are comforted by the many messages of condolence we have received,” Donald, son of the late Donald Cameron of Lochiel, said in a tribute to his father.
