King Charles III praised Oman’s peacemaking efforts as Sultan Haitham bin Tarik visited Britain, where Muscat has put economic cooperation and investment among the trip’s aims.

A published copy of the king’s speech records his praise for Oman’s peacemaking role. The Royal Household scheduled the state visit for Oct. 20-22.

Oman’s Foreign Ministry said Haitham left Oman on Oct. 19 and listed investment and economic cooperation with Britain among the visit’s objectives. The ministry has described stronger economic ties as intended to benefit both countries. Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi has linked economic cooperation to Oman Vision 2040.

The trip is the first state visit to Britain by an Omani ruler since March 1982, when Queen Elizabeth II received Sultan Qaboos bin Said, according to the Royal Household. EconoTimes previously reported on the visit’s investment agenda.
