After meeting India's Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in Berlin, Knauf General Partner Murat Akyildiz told ANI the group plans to invest another €350 million in four manufacturing plants in India.
Akyildiz named Gujarat for the first project and valued the plant at €80 million. He said the land and machinery were ready, but gave no construction or production date. His remarks also did not identify the locations or individual costs of the other three plants.
Knauf India’s facilities page names sites in Sricity, Andhra Pradesh, and Khushkhera, Rajasthan. Akyildiz described the proposed Gujarat facility as Knauf’s third plant in India. He did not give a timetable for the four-plant plan or specify the projects’ expected capacity.
Akyildiz cited the “Make in India” and “Vocal for Local” initiatives and said Knauf was confident in India’s business environment.
Knauf describes itself as a family-owned company based in Iphofen, Germany. Its products include gypsum-based building materials, insulation and ceiling systems. The company says it was founded in 1932.
