Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. has won a subcontract valued at $33.6 million to design and build a power conversion system for NASA's Space Reactor-1 Freedom mission.
Kratos' work also includes delivering the system for the mission. Sierra Lobo, Inc. is carrying out the broader NASA contract.
The combined count includes 12 seed proposals still under review and seven projects from a broader Science Activation cohort.
NASA says the surface measurements could inform suit and habitat design, but they do not establish airborne concentrations or astronaut exposure.
