Celebrate the Hunter’s Supermoon with Krispy Kreme’s Limited-Edition Supermoon Super Doughnut
When one sees a full moon in the dark sky, it is often associated with beliefs of harvest, transformation, or, on occasion, unfortunate events like accidents. However, for Krispy Kreme, a full moon marks the appearance of something rare— a once-in-a-blue-moon doughnut.
On October 17, the Hunter’s Supermoon will be visible, offering a unique celestial display as the moon appears more significant than usual due to its proximity to Earth. According to Fast Food Club, this phenomenon has long been tied to werewolves in folklore, reminiscent of scenes from old horror movies where werewolves are shown howling against the backdrop of a full moon. But instead of werewolves, Krispy Kreme offers a treat worth howling for the Supermoon Super Doughnut.
For one day only, Krispy Kreme will release the Supermoon Super Doughnut to celebrate the Hunter’s Supermoon. This special doughnut is inspired by the larger, brighter supermoon, featuring an unglazed base filled with Cookies & Kreme, dipped in yellow icing, and topped with chocolate cookie pieces. Customers can purchase the doughnut individually or in a specialty dozen, which includes six Supermoon Super Doughnuts and six Original Glazed doughnuts. These limited-edition treats will be available for pickup or delivery through Krispy Kreme's website or app while supplies last.
Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme’s Global Chief Brand Officer, encourages fans to step outside on Thursday night to witness the moon's beauty while enjoying the Supermoon Super Doughnut. He suggests sharing this cosmic treat with loved ones during the Supermoon’s appearance.

Krispy Kreme Honors Space-Themed Traditions with Limited-Edition Doughnuts, Celebrating the Hunter's Supermoon and Beyond
Krispy Kreme, known for being a part of many family traditions, continues to create sweet moments, including celebrations like the Hunter’s Supermoon. The company has a long history of commemorating space-related events with doughnut releases. This tradition began in 1969 when they served Original Glazed doughnuts at the launch viewing site of NASA’s Apollo 11 mission.
Krispy Kreme’s space-themed doughnut releases have become an anticipated part of its offerings. In April, they introduced the Total Star Eclipse Doughnut for the eclipse, a doughnut dipped in black chocolate icing and decorated with silver sparkles. A piped buttercream and Oreo cookie completed the cosmic design.
In 2022, the Artemis Moon Doughnut was unveiled to celebrate NASA’s Artemis I mission, featuring a Cheesecake Kreme-filled doughnut dipped in Cookies & Kreme icing. Another celestial creation, the Strawberry Supermoon Doughnut, was released in June 2021 to honor the Strawberry Moon, filled with Strawberry Kreme and topped with graham cracker dust.
In February 2021, Krispy Kreme commemorated the Mars Perseverance Rover’s landing with the Mars Doughnut, a Chocolate Kreme-filled doughnut dipped in caramel icing and decorated to resemble the red planet.
As the seasons shift on Earth, Krispy Kreme is also celebrating fall with its Golden Harvest Collection. The collection includes the Maple Buttercream Doughnut, the Oatmeal Kreme Pie Doughnut, the Salted Caramel Cheesecake Doughnut, and the returning fan favorite, the Spiced Apple Filled Doughnut. To complement these seasonal treats, Krispy Kreme offers fall beverages such as the Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte, Frozen Pumpkin Spice Latte, and Hot Pumpkin Spice Latte.
