Kuwait’s health minister ordered five private medical facilities closed and laboratory services suspended at a sixth after inspectors found licensing and safety breaches that could put patients at risk.
The closures affect two health centers, a dispensary, a dental center and a private clinic. Laboratory work was suspended at another dispensary, the Health Ministry said.
The ministry said a nurse performed a laser treatment without authorization and a dentist conducted X-ray examinations without a radiology license. Inspectors also found facilities offering or advertising medical specialties outside the scope of their licenses.
At one laboratory, failed air conditioning left temperatures high enough to threaten samples, reagents and equipment, the ministry said. Inspectors also cited expired medical materials and test tubes, failures to meet protective equipment requirements, mishandled sharp instruments and contaminated materials, and gaps in quality control and equipment maintenance.
The ministry said the measures will stay in place until the medical liability authority finishes the necessary procedures and investigations.
