IRVINE, Calif., May 03, 2017 -- Lantronix, Inc. (NASDAQ:LTRX), a global provider of secure data access and management solutions for Internet of Things (IoT) and information technology (IT) assets, today announced that it has joined the Industrial Internet Consortium® (IIC), the world’s leading organization in transforming business and society by accelerating the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
The research and advisory firm, Gartner, estimates the installed base of the IoT will exceed 20 billion units worldwide by 2020, with the McKinsey Global Institute estimating the economic potential of IoT to be as much as $11.1 trillion by 2025. This massive economic opportunity can only be realized if companies small and large can develop a new generation of technology solutions that will help them manage, operate, and service, connected products securely. In addition, these companies need a platform to help them rapidly create web-scale business applications that fully leverage a smart and connected world.
Lantronix has been delivering robust connectivity solutions for the machine to machine (M2M) and IoT industry for more than 25 years. The company’s newest IoT solutions - the SGX 5150, PremierWave® 2050, and xPico® 200 series - are targeted at providing even more functionality and features that allow OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to go to market with their IoT solutions more quickly. In March, the company demonstrated MACH10™, a multi-dimensional management software platform designed specifically to enable IoT OEMs to quickly and profitably deliver web-scale IoT applications and services.
“As our OEM customer base looks at developing smart and connected products, the demand for applications that can leverage this connectivity is increasing at an unimaginable pace,” said Shahram Mehraban, Lantronix Vice President of Marketing. “The IIC gives us the opportunity to collaborate with other leading technology companies. We look forward to using our deep expertise to fully participate as an active member of the IIC and enabling a new era of innovation in smart and connected products.”
“Lantronix brings years of experience building IoT connectivity solutions,” said Dr. Richard Mark Soley, Ph.D., Executive Director, Industrial Internet Consortium. “We are delighted that Lantronix is now a member of the IIC and look forward to the contributions they will make in helping to further advance connected IoT solutions.”
