Lee Min Ho was the lead actor in Kim Eun Sook’s latest drama titled “The King: The Eternal Monarch.” It was the actor and the writer’s reunion project as the former also starred in one of her most successful work, “The Heirs” drama.
“TKTEM” premiered in April and concluded in June with 16 episodes. Although it did not perform as expected when it aired on SBS network, it’s a different story in Netflix where it is also being aired for international fans.
Min Ho’s “The King: The Eternal Monarch” on Netflix
The American streaming provider giant has multi-million subscribers around the world so its reach is extensive. Thus, when Lee Min Ho’s drama was added in its show line-up, the response of the viewers was tremendous. In fact, The Korea Times reported that “TKTEM” conquered the platform and emerged as the most-watched show in different countries.
The advantage of being in the popular streaming platform is not just the reach but it is also possible to watch any show over and over again. This is why Lee Min Ho’s drama continues to gain love from the viewers even if it already ended two months ago.
“TKTEM” bested South Korea’s most popular shows
Now, as per IBTimes, the 33-year-old actor’s drama topped the list of most-watched on Netflix this year. There are many popular series in Korea but “TKTEM” bested all of them including Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin’s “Crash Landing on You.”
Kim Soo Hyun’s “It's Okay to Not Be Okay” placed second while “Hospital Playlist” ranks third. Park Seo Joon’s “Itaewon Class” that was very successful when it was aired on TV only placed sixth while “CLOY” is in fifth place. Other dramas bested by Lee Min Ho’s comeback screenplay include “Mystic Pop-up Bar,” “Hi Bye, Ma!” Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wook’s “Goblin,” “Extracurricular” and “Heart Signal.”
New project - What’s next for Min Ho?
As “The King: The Eternal Monarch” ended, MYM Entertainment or Lee Min Ho has not revealed any future plans yet so it is not known what his next project would be. The actor seemed to have hinted that he is already working on something after he updated his Instagram with a photo that shows himself sitting behind a monitor.
On the table, there is also a booklet that looks like a script and fans are assuming that he is already filming another drama or a movie. Then again, only MYM can confirm if Lee Min Ho is already working on a new project.
