Yonhap reported that President Lee Jae Myung’s approval fell to 39% in Gallup Korea’s latest poll, returning below 40% after one survey at that level, while negative assessments also eased to 49%.
Yonhap said Gallup Korea interviewed 1,000 adults age 18 or older between Oct. 27 and 29. Positive assessments declined 1 percentage point from the week before, and negative assessments also fell 1 point. Gallup surveys had kept Lee below 40% since early September until the previous survey put him at 40%.
Among respondents who viewed Lee’s performance negatively, 19% cited real estate policies and 17% named economic and livelihood concerns. Security and North Korea policies were cited by 10%. Among those who viewed his performance positively, 17% mentioned diplomacy, 14% economic and livelihood issues, and 8% communication.
Support for the ruling Democratic Party fell 2 points to 35%, matching a low recorded earlier this month under Lee’s administration. The main opposition People Power Party gained 2 points to 30%. Gallup Korea reported a 3.1-percentage-point margin of error at a 95% confidence level.
