‘Legends of Tomorrow’ season 2’s episode 10, titled “The Legion of Doom,” is set to follow the team as they race to save Rip Hunter from the group of villains. However, it seems that the members of the Legion are also facing internal conflicts of their own.
The synopsis for “The Legion of Doom” posted on Comic Book Movie reads, “The Legends are determined to find and rescue Rip (Arthur Darvill), but first must focus on locating the Spear of Destiny.
Stein (Victor Garber) thinks he has the perfect person to help but knows involving her will be risky. Meanwhile, Malcom Merlyn (guest star John Barrowman) and Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) realize that Thawne (guest star Matt Letscher) is pitting them against each other.”
Things have not been going well for Rip Hunter. In addition to forgetting his real identity and thinking he is only a film student named Phil, he has to get abducted by the evil Legion of Doom. The promo for the incoming villain-centric episode showed Rip abducted and tied up, while forced to succumb to torture and interrogation.
The team will have to do everything in their power to rescue their former leader from the villains of the DC universe. They would also need help in locating the Spear of Destiny, a powerful biblical artifact capable of altering reality. It seems that Stein will have to come up with a risky decision to get Rip back.
Co-showrunner Phil Klemmer was asked to explain the mysterious artifact during an interview with TV Line. He said, “So far this season we’ve been traveling around in time, correcting aberrations. But the second you correct something, somebody could just go back and screw it up all over again. We’re sort of “doing our edits in pencil.”
He continued, “The Spear of Destiny allows you to “shoot the white pages,” or write something in indelible ink. It’s no longer about, “Ooh, it’s going to create an aberration that could have some cataclysmic consequence in the future.” The Spear of Destiny allows you to change reality itself — which also means that somebody can’t go back and change it. It renders our team ineffectual, because as a mystical artifact that is derived from the blood of Christ… it imparts a divine power upon whomever wields it.”
Eobard Thawne a.k.a. Reverse-Flash, Damien Darhk and Malcolm Merlyn are currently on the hunt to procure the object but it seems that they may run into some complications when Merlyn and Damien realize that Thawne had been trying to cause tension between the two.
‘Legends of Tomorrow’ season 2’s episode 10, titled “The Legion of Doom,” is scheduled to air on The CW on January 31, 2017. It was directed by Eric Laneuville and written by Phil Klemmer and Marc Guggenheim. It will be followed by episode 11, titled "Turncoat," scheduled for February 7.
