Leveraged funds held 3,979 more short than long CME Bitcoin futures contracts on Oct. 27, while a separate Coinbase price indicator remained negative in the latest available readings.
Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) data listed 9,866 short contracts and 5,887 long contracts for leveraged funds, a ratio of roughly 1.7 to 1. The figures are a weekly snapshot dated Oct. 27, rather than a real-time measure. They cover CME Bitcoin futures positions, not spot-market activity.
CryptoQuant put its Coinbase premium reading at -0.19% on Oct. 31. A negative reading means Bitcoin (BTC) traded at a lower price on Coinbase than on Binance. The readings were negative each day from Oct. 27 through Oct. 31: -0.14%, -0.12%, -0.27%, -0.24% and -0.19%, respectively. The discount narrowed from Oct. 29 to Oct. 31 but remained below zero.
Later CFTC and CryptoQuant readings could help track whether the futures gap and Coinbase discount change.
