Swiss chocolatier Lindt is showcasing a Japanese specialty with their latest limited-time release, enticingly called the Nagano Purple Chocolat Drink.
This drink stands out for its beautiful purple shade and the ingredient that gives its hue, the rare luxury black grape Nagano Purple.
Nagano Purple is a hybrid of the Kyoho and Rizamarto grape varietals that are grown in the Nagano Prefecture, which is well known for its grape production. It has the same spherical shape as a Kyoho grape result, but it tastes intensely like wine. In contrast to many other Japanese grape types, it is likewise seedless and intended to be consumed skin-on.
Given its rarity, many people in Japan are unaware of the Nagano Purple.
To come up with this drink, Lindt blends whole Nagano Purple grapes with white chocolate, and tops it all off with a yogurt espuma to balance out the sweetness.
Although Nagano Purple has a high sugar content of 18–21%, its flavor profile also exhibits a tartness.
The topping also contained real jelly.
The Nagano Purple Chocolate Drink, which costs 780 yen, is only available at Lindt Chocolat Boutique & Cafe locations in Japan while supplies last until September 13.
