It is no secret that the Robinson family is headed to another unknown destination in “Lost in Space” season 2. The question is what planet are they going to explore next? There are some convincing theories that they could be landing in the home planet of Will’s (Maxwell Jenkins) best friend Robot (Brian Steele).
Fans do not know yet when “Lost in Space” season 2 will premiere, but at least the season 1 finale — fittingly titled “Danger, Will Robinson” — provided some clues on what will happen next. Thanks to the intrusion of the alien engine, the destination of the Robinsons’ ship was changed. Instead of getting back to the Resolute, the Jupiter 2 was sent to a portal heading to an unknown planet.
Everyone in the Jupiter 2 does not know what they were looking at except for Will. The youngest Robinson showed a sand drawing to his family and Don (Ignacio Serricchio) that is shaped like the planet they are approaching. The image was created by the Robot that was initially thought as just repetitive scribbles. Will might not yet fully know what is in that place in “Lost in Space” season 2, but he is certain the Robot has always told him that it is “Danger.”
Given the Robot’s fixation in drawing the said image throughout season 1, there are now speculations that the Robinsons’ “Lost in Space” season 2 destination is likely his home planet. Meanwhile, there is also a possibility that the image represents an entire system or a galaxy. But it makes sense to expect that the Robot has been there before.
The final moments of season 1 also made it clear that not all robots are good, even those that look like Will’s friend. That is already a red flag for “Lost in Space” season 2.
The first installment also showed how Dr. Smith (Parker Posey) was able to manipulate Will’s friend for her advantage. Since it is very unlikely for her to remain a prisoner throughout “Lost in Space” season 2, the cunning character would have a field day in a planet full of robots.
Filming for “Lost in Space” season 2 wrapped up earlier this year, but updates from last month confirmed that the show is still in post-production. It is now speculated to premiere in late 2019 or even in early 2020.
