A couple of days after Sotheby’s auctions opened for its exclusive Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 Lows, the sneakers are already selling for astronomical prices with Lot 178 for a men’s size 11 having 48 bids for $90,000.
Meanwhile, the lowest asking price for a pair is available in sizes 7 and 7.5, with bids at $20,000.
Those of the rarest sizes of 5, 5.5, 16, 17, and 18 will only have one pair each and are priced between $24,000 to $40,000.
The late Virgil Abloh, Louis Vuitton’s former menswear designer, already has numerous Nike projects under his belt through his Off-White label that created the sneakers.
Each pair features a mix of Louis Vuitton’s iconic Monogram and Damier patterns and will come via the auction with an orange Louis Vuitton pilot case, which would not be available with the to-be-released retail versions.
Proceeds from the auctions will go to Abloh’s “Post-Modern” Scholarship Fund in support of Black fashion students.
Sotheby’s auction for the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 Low will be open until Tuesday, Feb. 8.
