Lufthansa Group reported record third-quarter revenue of €12.2 billion ($13.6 billion), while operating profit rose 6% despite a €543 million increase in fuel costs.

Revenue rose 9% from a year earlier, the company said. Operating profit increased 6% to €1.4 billion ($1.57 billion), while net income reached €1.3 billion, about €300 million more than a year earlier. Lufthansa cited passenger demand and cost controls as support for the result.

Lufthansa Cargo recorded operating profit of €162 million, up from €49 million a year earlier. Its yields increased 22% as disruptions in the Middle East sustained demand for air freight. Regional conditions have also affected the group’s passenger schedule: Lufthansa recently delayed its planned return to Dubai to Nov. 25.

The network airlines reported a €108 million decline in adjusted earnings before interest and taxes, to €853 million. Lufthansa Airlines’ result included €65 million in costs tied to strikes in the first half of the year, alongside higher fuel expenses.

The network carriers added 1.6% more seat capacity, and average yields increased 6.8%. Demand was particularly strong for premium tickets and long-haul flights to North America and Asia. Unit costs excluding fuel and emissions rose 0.5% as the group cut administrative fees and project spending and expanded operational automation.

Lufthansa Technik’s revenue grew 20% to €2.3 billion, while its operating profit rose 54% to €200 million, supported by demand from outside maintenance customers. Eurowings increased adjusted earnings before interest and taxes by €16 million to €214 million after moving flights from the Gulf to Southern Europe.

Lufthansa Chief Financial Officer Till Streichert put the group’s expected 2026 fuel bill at €9.3 billion. The company reported passenger-airline fuel hedging ratios of 86% for 2026 and more than 60% for 2027. It set its full-year 2026 adjusted EBIT forecast at €1.7 billion to €2.0 billion.
