MHITS, an Australian payments firm, has launched a new service BitMoby, which will enable users to top-up pre-paid mobile minutes using only bitcoin, as part of their efforts to explore the potential of the crypto-currency. This new service is being offered in 180 countries and is trying to cap the unbanked market.
"BitMoby is an example of how digital currencies such as Bitcoin can be used to demonstrate a highly efficient integrated transaction process where the payment instruction itself can uniquely identify the transaction and incorporate payment information. This innovation simply cannot be achieved via existing card-based technology. This means that no shopping cart or checkout process is required, providing for a simple, fast and efficient user experience", it said.
After providing the phone number, country of residence, and email, the users have to scan QR code and pay with bitcoin, depending on the number of minutes they want. Soon afterwards, the phone is topped-up.
