FAIRFAX, Va., July 19, 2017 -- MKACyber, a rapidly expanding Managed Security Operations Services Provider (MSSP) and security consulting firm with elite SOC expertise, today announced the addition of Mark G. Hall as Director, Operational Risk and Compliance. Using MKACyber’s proven methodology and solutions, Mr. Hall will assist MKACyber customers in aligning their cyber defenses against identified threats and risks to their business operations and high value data and systems, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and operational policies.
Mr. Hall brings over 30 years of experience in information assurance and cybersecurity working for both the public and private sector. Prior to joining MKACyber he worked as an independent consultant and senior partner with the Cyber Security Consulting Group. He also served as Vice President, Cyber Security Engineering at Decisive Analytics Corporation.
Preceding his move to private industry, Mr. Hall spent nearly twenty-five years in the Intelligence Community and later the Department of Defense (Office of the Secretary of Defense) as it transitioned from Communication Security to Information Security to Cyber Security and has been a key Department of Defense (DOD) and federal leader in cybersecurity architecture, policy development, compliance and enforcement, threat awareness, cyber training, information-sharing frameworks, and international partnerships. Mr. Hall served in multiple capacities for the DOD, most notably as Director Cyber, Information Assurance (IA) Policy and Strategy in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, where he was responsible for ensuring a secure DOD network architecture was designed and maintained through a variety of IA initiatives and programs supported by appropriate enterprise security policies.
Throughout his career, Mr. Hall has worked closely with national leaders in cybersecurity strategies, threat awareness, incident response and public-private collaboration.
“Mark is a seasoned cybersecurity professional and through the combined knowledge he’s gained from his work with the intelligence community, the Department of Defense and other federal agencies, the international community and the private sector he brings unique insights to our customer’s cyber defense requirements. His previous work on a variety of IA initiatives and programs, as well as the enforcement and compliance with policy and security protocols that he supported, made him perfect for this position,” said Ms. Kwon. “His expertise will help MKACyber continue to deliver on our mission to help global enterprises and leading government organizations modernize their security operations centers, better manage threat detection capabilities, understand the attack surface and detect based on incident response processes.”
Asked his plans in his new position, Mr. Hall said, "Mischel Kwon and the team at MKACyber have successfully implemented a straight-forward, cost-conscious approach to MSSP and supporting services that is sorely missing in the marketplace. For example, many small to medium-sized defense contractors must be compliant with new Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) requirements by the end of this year and costs are a big driver for them. We will work to help those organizations become, and more importantly, stay compliant using their current security architecture or supplementing it with requirement-driven solutions."
Recognized for bringing much-needed innovation and repeatable processes to a critically important part of the security market, MKACyber’s comprehensive MSSP offering and consulting services include:
- Managed Security Operations Services – Based on its proprietary risk-driven SOC Methodology, driven by threat intel and focused on detection and incident response, MKACyber offers fully-managed services for threat monitoring/detection, vulnerability management and incident response/remediation.
- Assessment and Consulting – End-to-end consulting services for assessing, building and/or repairing operational security capabilities; this includes establishing and/or augmenting threat intelligence and vulnerability management programs as well as physical SOC architecture and implementation.
MKACyber is a woman-owned business. In addition to her role with the company, Ms. Kwon is founder of the Cybersecurity Diversity Foundation, which is committed to supporting educational and workplace diversity in the field of cybersecurity.
