CBS's political drama series is getting some big names to guest star on the show in “Madam Secretary” season 5. Starring Tea Leoni as Secretary of State Bess McCord, the show focuses on the challenges of being a female secretary of state, inspired by the growing number of women in political office. It seems the show is taking cues from real life by drawing from the experience of real politicians.
Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright recently posted on Twitter a picture of herself, Colin Powell and Hillary Clinton on set with “Madam Secretary” star Tea Leoni.
It was great to be back on the set of @MadamSecretary with @tealeoni. It is always nice to consult with my successors. The episode will air on #CBS on October 7. pic.twitter.com/68NFcJLMGc

Madeleine Albright's guest starring on the show is of significance as the first female secretary of state for the U.S. government under President Bill Clinton's term. Aside from Madeleine Albright and Colin Powell, a recent candidate for the presidency who was also secretary of state is making a guest appearance in “Madam Secretary” season 5.
Hillary Clinton's guesting debut on “Madam Secretary” season 5 will be in the same episode alongside Colin Powell and Madeleine Albright. It is teased that the three former U.S. secretaries of state will be giving “Madam Secretary” protagonist Bess McCord advice during an episode that will prove to be challenging for Leoni's character.
The show's writer, Barbara Hall, mentions that the practice of current secretaries of state consulting with those who have occupied the position in previous administrations is common. Fans of the show will be getting the thrill of seeing the fictional McCord get some advice in “Madam Secretary” season 5 from some of the most famous secretaries of state.
Hillary Clinton's upcoming appearance in “Madam Secretary” was made possible by the show's executive producer Lori McCreary opening up the idea of Clinton appearing as a guest on the show. According to EW's report, the former secretary of state wanted to play the role of a secret agent before McCreary opened up the possibility of Clinton guesting as herself on the show.
Fans of the show who can not wait to see Tea Leoni onscreen with some of the previous American administrations' most experienced politicians will be glad to know that “Madam Secretary” season 5 will be airing its premiere episode on Oct. 7.
