Mahindra & Mahindra posted record auto sales of 131,109 vehicles in October, including exports, while a separate tractor decline showed how festival timing affected parts of its business.

The company’s auto total was 9% higher than in October 2025. Domestic utility vehicle sales increased 2% to 73,338 units, while the category’s total rose to 74,904 when exports were included. Domestic commercial vehicle sales grew 4% to 33,037 units.

Exports across the auto business climbed 77% to 7,102 units. Mahindra linked the month’s result to festive-season purchases and changes across its model range. It also said the XUV 3XO ZNG, a compressed natural gas SUV, drew strong customer interest. The 9% increase applies to the overall auto total including exports; the 2% figure reflects domestic utility vehicles.

NDTV Profit reported in a live update at 10:07 p.m. ET Nov. 1 (03:07 UTC Nov. 2) that Ashok Leyland’s October sales reached 21,888 units, up 23% from a year earlier. It reported domestic sales of 20,224 units, up 24%. The outlet also reported 11,102 medium and heavy commercial vehicle truck sales, an increase of 39%, and 1,544 bus sales in the category, a 6% decline. Medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales totaled 12,646, up 32%, while light commercial vehicle sales were 7,961, up 14%, NDTV Profit said.

Other Indian automakers also reported October records. Hyundai Motor India reported monthly sales of 82,299 units, while Maruti Suzuki reported its highest monthly sales total at 276,120 vehicles.

In Mahindra’s farm equipment business, domestic tractor sales fell 13% to 62,626 units from 72,071 a year earlier. The company said Diwali’s move from October in 2025 to November in 2026 was the main reason for the decline.

Mahindra’s board is scheduled to meet Thursday, Nov. 5, to consider unaudited results for the second quarter and the half year ended Sept. 30.
