Mark Harmon was previously rumored to be leaving “NCIS,” and according to reports, it was due to his failing health condition. The rumors have persisted but the veteran actor has proven that the reports are false as he continues to appear in his role in the said police procedural drama’s 16th season.
Apparently, Mark Harmon is fit and can still work after he made his fans worried when photos of his gaunt appearance surfaced online and in leading tabloids. The images were taken after his knee surgery, as he was recovering from it. However, fans thought that there could be something more like an illness that he is keeping secret so, allegedly, the people behind the show asked him to take a break so he could get healthy and regain his energy.
But fans should know that he is already 67 years old, so most likely, his thinner body is just part of growing old. As Monsters and Critics notes, while the actor may eventually leave "NCIS" one day, it is not happening any time soon. In fact, he just signed a new deal with CBS so he can still be in the series for the upcoming seasons.
Mark Harmon is definitely in good health since he can still do many complicated scenes in his long-running drama. He also previously shared how he is able to continue working at his age and even do action scenes without a hitch.
In his interview with Men’s Journal, he disclosed how he manages his health. “The job I have, whether it’s this job or some other job, I’m usually aware of that. It’s every bit as much about the physical as it is about anything mental,” he said. “I try to take care of myself and try to eat well and try to get my rest. I don’t do the same stuff I was doing when I was 24 years old.”
Mark Harmon further revealed that what is keeping him in shape these days is pilates. He said that it was his shoulder injury that introduced him to this type of fitness system and he has stuck with it.
“It completely kicks my ass and my shoulder injury drew me to Pilates. The physical therapist I went to was all about that,” the actor explained. “They kick your ass on these machines. Pilates is all about controlling the machine and that’s twice as hard as running 60 to 70 miles every week which I used to do in college.”
With regards to his alleged marriage issues, just like his “NCIS” exit rumors, it is not true that he is having problems with his wife, Pam Dawber. Mark Harmon’s married life is not in trouble and the couple even renewed their marriage vows just last year.
As per Radar Online, Mark Harmon and Pam Dawber celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows. It was an intimate ceremony that took place in the couple’s backyard and with their close family and friends around.
“The ceremony was beautiful,” an insider told the publication. “It was very intimate, very private and really reflected their relationship.”
