DAVIS, Calif., April 11, 2017 -- Marrone Bio Innovations, Inc. (NASDAQ:MBII) (MBI), a leading provider of bio-based pest management and plant health products for the agriculture, turf and ornamental and water treatment markets, is proud to give back to the City of Davis and broader Sacramento region with Marrone Bio Cannery Farm Volunteer Day.
On Sunday, April 9th, MBI employees along with their family and friends, volunteered their time, skills and expertise to assist the non-profit Center for Land-Based Learning with sustainable farming projects at the Cannery Farm located in Davis, Calif. MBI volunteers rid the hedgerow of weed scourges and planted strawberries.
Cannery Farm is managed by Center for Land-Based Learning and is an important part of its California Farm Academy program – an innovative training program and farm business incubator that teaches and mentors beginning farmers in agricultural production, business planning and marketing. Cannery Farm is the first farm-to-fork new home community in the Sacramento region and in California.
“Cannery Farm demonstrates the viability of a relationship between urban uses and agriculture, and creates a sense of connection with the City’s rural heritage and surroundings. We greatly appreciate this partnership with MBI and their help in making the farm a model for the region and state,” said, Nicodemus Ford, Cannery Farm Coordinator.
Pam Marrone, Founder and CEO of Marrone Bio Innovations, added: “MBI strives to lead the movement to a more sustainable world and this volunteer initiative is directly aligned with our vision. We are pleased to have the opportunity to give back to Center for Land-Based Learning and champion their mission to inspire, educate, and cultivate future generations of farmers, agricultural leaders and natural resource stewards.”
