The OG members of the most popular superhero group worldwide are confirmed to be included in the “Marvel’s Avengers” once it is released later this year. But the Marvel universe, as fans know it, does not end with Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor. A datamine from the game’s beta access suggests that the list of playable characters will also be expanded after the game’s launch.
‘Marvel’s Avengers’ playable characters roster would be expanded after launch?
Online posts started making rounds shortly after the “Marvel’s Avengers” beta access went live earlier this month. The dataminer claimed to have found pieces of evidence that the game contains assets referring to a very long list of unannounced playable characters.
Original posts of the datamine have been taken down from Reddit and Pastebin, but reports have already picked up the names of superheroes potentially getting added to the “Marvel’s Avengers” later. Fan-favorite heroes such as Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Doctor Strange were mentioned. The supposed leak also included Ant-Man, Wasp, Vision, Falcon, Mar-Vell, Mockingbird, Quake, Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch, Kate Bishop, She-Hulk, and War Machine.
Since these “unannounced playable characters” were found in hidden files of “Marvel’s Avengers” beta access, there is no guarantee that they will all be released as actual playable characters in the game. But seeing their names in the list increases its potential of happening through a post-launch DLC.
The next question is if all these supposedly upcoming characters would be accessible on all platforms. It can be recalled that another crucial character in the franchise, Spider-Man, was announced as a playable addition for free but only to players using PlayStation consoles.
‘Marvel’s Avengers’ remaining beta access dates
As mentioned, these supposed leaks started to emerge online after Square Enix launched the game’s beta access this month. First batches of tests have already started, but more schedules have been set in the remaining weeks of the month.
Open access to “Marvel’s Avengers” beta will be available on all platforms on Friday, Aug. 21 to Sunday, Aug. 23 with preload starting on Thursday at 9 p.m. on players’ timezones. More beta access sessions are reportedly set in the next weekends that start every Friday at 9 p.m. and ends Sunday at the same time.
Those who pre-ordered any edition of the game will receive a redemption code that they can use through their Square Enix account to join the beta. “Marvel’s Avengers” will be released on Sept. 4 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia while a version for the PS5 and Xbox Series X will launch later this year once these consoles are out.
