McDonald’s, Papa John’s, Starbucks, and Wendy’s were among the 842 companies that earned a 100 percent rating in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index’s 2022 list of ‘best places to work for LGBTQ+ equality.’
Other restaurant companies also on the annual list were Chipotle Mexican Grill, Darden, Shake Shack, Sweetgreen, and White Castle.
In addition, several food service vendors also made the list, including DoorDash, Uber, and Yelp.
Every year, the organization scores and rates companies on how inclusive and equitable they are for LGBTQ+ community members.
According to the Human Rights Campaign, while equitable policies and benefits are critical to LGBTQ inclusion in the workforce, those alone are not sufficient to support a truly inclusive culture within a workplace. It added that employers should recognize that beyond the policy letter, additional programming and educational efforts are necessary.”
This is the second year in a row for the Louisville, Kentucky.-based Papa John’s to make the list following the transformation of its culture into a people-first, equity-minded company.
