Medline plans an approximately 800,000-square-foot distribution center near Detroit to add capacity for its growing medical supplies business and meet changing needs among health care providers in Michigan.
The company announced the plan Oct. 15. The site is planned for Van Buren Township, within Crossroads Distribution Center North, where Ashley Capital is leading development. Medline expects the facility to begin serving customers across Michigan in late 2028.
Medline said the center would expand its distribution capacity and give the company more flexibility as its business grows and providers’ requirements change. It is also expected to incorporate technologies used at other Medline locations, though the company did not identify specific systems.
Medline’s website lists more than 50 distribution sites in North America and a combined warehouse footprint of over 28 million square feet. The website does not date those figures.
Van Buren Township Supervisor Kevin McNamara said he expects the project to bring employment opportunities and benefit the township’s economy. Medline did not provide a hiring estimate or project cost.
The company’s stated target is for the center to begin serving Michigan customers in late 2028.
