Meghan Markle gained a lot when she married Prince Harry. But becoming a royal has its consequences as well. For instance, a royal’s action is constantly and comprehensively being monitored by the palace.
As such, Meghan Markle had to leave social media behind and even shut down her site which had become part of her throughout her journey. But these aren’t the only things she had to leave behind as the Duchess of Sussex also needs to be careful whom she spends her time with nowadays.
Indeed, People reports that Meghan Markle is finding it difficult to find people whom she can trust. After her royal wedding with Prince Harry, the Duchess has had to distance herself from a lot of people from her past, even those who have been close to her.
A source told People that it’s been tough for Meghan Markle to find individuals who can act as confidantes. Fortunately, she still has some people in her circle whom she can truly rely upon. And one of them is her best friend and frequent stylist, Jessica Mulroney, whom she recently visited in Toronto, Canada.
Another soul that Meghan Markle gravitates towards is makeup artist Daniel Martin. “There’s a small group of us that check in with her and see how she’s doing,” Daniel said. “But she’s still the same person.”
Anthropologist and evolutionary psychologist Robin Dunbar posits that a person can only maintain a healthy relationship with 150 individuals. But given that Meghan Markle is royalty, that figure is significantly reduced, which apparently is taking a toll on the Duchess’s resolve.
However, it seems that the cloud over Meghan Markle’s head might soon dissipate as rumors have it that her mother, Doria Ragland, will be moving in with her. The 62-year-old was recently reported to be taking baby classes, sparking rumors that the Duchess of Sussex is currently carrying the newest addition to the royal family.
But all of it still remains hearsay as the palace itself has yet to confirm both accounts. Still, it seems that Meghan Markle is doing her best in keeping her chin high as she continues to conduct charity work. She’s also slated to fly over to Australia for her first major tour with Prince Harry.
“It is her [Meghan Markle] biggest part yet,” says Ingrid Seward, author of the recent biography on the Queen and Prince Philip, “My Husband and I.” The author added that she’s positively convinced that the Duchess of Sussex will be able to carry herself in outstanding fashion even when everyone’s attention is honed in on her.
