Melania Trump finally tweeted about the deadly coronavirus after days of staying mum on the issue. Americans have not also seen the FLOTUS in weeks since the outbreak.
“With our lives changed dramatically, especially in the last few days, I encourage everyone to follow CDC guidelines. Social distancing at this time is very important!” she tweeted alongside a link to CDC’s official website and information on the coronavirus.
The first lady’s tweet drew a slew of mixed reactions from her supporters and critics. Some of them praised her for her compassion and care towards Americans and the world amid the ongoing pandemic. However, some people also reminded Melania of what her husband, Donald Trump, has been doing to deal with the health crisis.
“AMEN. Thank you very much,” Twitter user @LawrenceRReed9 said.
“Great advice first lady!” Twitter user @MatthewJShow said.
“Your husband cut funding to the CDC and fired the pandemic team,” Twitter user @concerneddogmom said.
“Don’t forget I’m not taking any responsibility…” Twitter user @lilmaggot62 said.
“I encourage everyone to listen to CDC guidelines and don’t listen to Donald Trump,” Twitter user @outofcontroljb said.
“Disgraceful. No updates on the tennis pavilion for several days. What is this country coming to do?” Twitter user @Richard18880328 said.
“Social distancing explained,” Twitter user @lilmaggot62 said.
“This is pointless! Please update us on the tennis pavilion!” Twitter user @jmountpdx said.
“It took the coronavirus to shed light on how many jerks we have in America,” Twitter user @joybellesshadow said.
“Lol! You’ve been social distancing from your husband for years! And we understand why!!” Twitter user @nicolejames said.
“Oh! Hello there! Thank you for your late concern,” Twitter user @flipped54 said.
“You were smart to live on an entirely different floor from your husband,” Twitter user @DeniseG53 said.
“A little late to the party Melanie. Just last week it was a hoax and going to go away when it warms up. It's 90° today in Florida and new cases that are lucky enough to get tested are still here. Not what Dotard promised!!” Twitter user @SharinStone said.
