The Trump family is especially under high scrutiny nowadays and understandably so. The latest comes in the form of First Lady Melania Trump’s visit to a children’s hospital.
Express reports that Melania recently paid a visit to the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, Florida, along with her husband, Donald Trump. The First Lady opened a healing garden in the hospital as part of her anti-bullying campaign initiative called Be Best. The garden was designed with the hopes of being able to give strength and healing to children who are currently suffering from diseases. As photos and videos from the visit were posted online, it was met by a slew of criticism from the public online.
Some commenters criticized the effectiveness of the First Lady’s campaign, which puts an emphasis on the wellbeing of children in the country. Some also pointed out how ironic it was given the situation at the border, where children are being detained and separated from their families due to illegally entering the United States. Within those comments, they also urged her to carry out her initiative there as well. Some skeptics remarked on how their visit was simply for photo ops, while others pointed out how the visit is all propaganda, especially considering the fact that the hospital is near the Trump Mar-a-Lago estate.
However, in the midst of all the criticism, some still praised her for her work and what she is doing for children who are battling diseases.
Previously, over the holidays, Melania also gave everyone a peek into the Christmas decorations set up within the White House. Photos of Christmas wreaths she designed were also shared by the White House. However, it was also met by criticism and mockery from netizens. Some criticized the fact that it was as if Melania invented the holiday, while others pointed out how wreaths were part of the traditional Christmas decor for many years.
There were also netizens who commented with sarcasm with the photos of the decorations. Christmas decor aside, there were those who also brought up the previous accusations that Melania copied the speech of her predecessor Michelle Obama during her inauguration as First Lady.
