Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) unveiled a palm-sized device designed specifically for its Muse artificial intelligence agent on Wednesday, alongside an expanded lineup of smart glasses and new AI capabilities.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced the products during the opening keynote at Meta Connect 2026 in Menlo Park, California. The new handheld device, called Muse Charm, features a compact screen and 5G connectivity, allowing users to access and interact with their Muse AI agents without relying on a smartphone. Meta plans to make the device available for purchase by December.

Meta also revealed camera-less smart glasses, new virtual reality glasses and deeper integration between Muse and its wearable devices. Zuckerberg said users will gain additional personalization tools, including options to customize their AI agent's appearance and voice.

The Meta CEO expects Muse to eventually become a widely used "personal superintelligence." He also outlined plans to make the service free for a large number of tokens before introducing a small transaction fee. Zuckerberg said Muse could potentially help users generate financial returns.

Meta Chief AI Officer Alexander Wang announced further upgrades that will allow Muse to interact directly with users' computers. The company is also expanding "connectors," which integrate Muse with third-party applications.

Agentic shopping is emerging as a major focus for Meta's AI strategy. Wang announced additional retail integrations with Walmart and Best Buy, enabling Muse to play a greater role in ecommerce and AI-powered shopping.

Muse was released as a mobile application in early September and has rapidly gained users. It recently surpassed OpenAI's ChatGPT as the most downloaded application on Apple's U.S. App Store, fueling optimism about growing consumer adoption of artificial intelligence.

Meta shares were down about 0.4% in after-hours trading at 20:40 ET, recovering from an earlier decline of as much as 1.5%. The stock had closed Wednesday at $744.27, up 1.04%.
