Metaplanet purchased each of 463 BTC at an average price of ¥17.27 million (around $116,975) for a total expenditure of roughly $53.7 million as of August 4, 2025.
Metaplanet is confirmed as one of the biggest public corporate holders of Bitcoin globally with this latest tranche, having Bitcoin holdings totaling 17,595 BTC, therefore ranking among the top non-U.S. companies by treasury reserves.
Under its "555 Million Plan," Metaplanet wants to gather up to 210,000 BTC by 2027; this acquisition is a major milestone. Emphasizing a larger institutional move toward corporate Bitcoin accumulation all through 2025, the plan sees Bitcoin as a fundamental treasury asset—a long-term protection against inflation and fiat depreciation.
