Mexican headline inflation accelerates in mid-October

Mexico’s headline inflation accelerated in the first half of October 2017. The national statistics institute showed that Mexico’s inflation rose 0.62 percent, accelerating from 0.34 percent. Annual rate of inflation came in at 6.3 percent.

The core inflation rate recorded a rise of 0.21 percent in the first half of October and recorded an annual rise of 4.75 percent. The result of the underlying price index resulted from rises in the prices of goods and services of 0.13 and 0.27 percent biannually, respectively, stated National Institute of Statistics and Geography.

Within the non-core price index, the agricultural commodities sub-index showed a drop of 1.52 percent, while energy prices and government-authorized tariffs rose by 4.07 percent biweekly.
