An Al Jazeera segment published Nov. 2 turns to Michigan’s Senate contest to ask whether voters can sustain political dialogue before the Nov. 3 election.

Four voters with differing political positions appear in the segment. It examines disagreements tied to the war in the Middle East, religion and President Donald Trump. The conversations leave open whether people with opposing views can maintain dialogue.

The Senate seat is open after Sen. Gary Peters announced in January 2025 that he would not seek reelection. The Michigan Department of State’s general-election list names Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed and Republican candidate Mike Rogers.

Voters are scheduled to decide the race Nov. 3.
