‘Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children’ Releases Newest U.S. Trailer Featuring More of Samuel L. Jackson’s Barron, Hints at Straying from Original Book

A scene from Tim Burton's fantasy film 'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children’

‘Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children’ recently unveiled its newest U.S. trailer featuring more of Samuel L. Jackson’s evil Barron. Some footage seen also hinted at the film straying from the original book.

According to Huffington Post, Tim Burton’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Ransom Rigg’s book of the same name released its second U.S. trailer ahead of the scheduled big screen premiere on September 2016.  It featured a closer look at Samuel L. Jackson’s villainous Barron, an original character made especially for the cinematic version.

Jackson is transformed into a monster who hunts down beings with peculiarities. He is seen with white hair and bright white eyes.

The film follows a 16-year old boy named Jacob Portman who is introduced into a new world of orphaned children endowed with unusual powers and traits. He accidentally works himself onto an island housing the orphanage run by Miss Peregrine, who herself has special gifts of her own. The Home for Peculiar Children was created to protect the special children from predators such as Wights and Hollowgasts.

The new trailer showed scenes that suggested it may stray from the source material. According to HitFix, Jacob’s love interest from the original book, Emma, seems to be replaced by an aged up Olive. Although the character remains as Emma, she will be endowed by Olive’s powers.

‘Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children’ is an upcoming adventure fantasy film starring Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Samuel L. Jackson, Ella Purnell, Allison Janey, Dame Judi Dench, Rupert Everett, and Terence Stamp. It is directed by Tim Burton and written for the big screen by Jane Goldman based on the original work of Ransom Riggs.

Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping serve as producers with Ivana Lombardi co-producing. Katterli Frauenfelder, Derek Frey, and Nigel Gostelow are executive producing. It is scheduled to premiere in the United States on September 30, 2016.
