It is going to be a year since the first installment of the Chinese animated series “Mo Dao Zu Shi” first aired in China and then in other regions. “Mo Dao Zu Shi” season 2 was confirmed earlier this year, leading some fans to believe that it will premiere sometime this month as well. However, with not much news from the producers, there is a chance that a delay is on the horizon.
“Mo Dao Zu Shi” season 2: When will it premiere?
The good news is “Mo Dao Zu Shi” season 2 is already confirmed. In fact, the first teaser trailer was released as back in February. However, the promo video did not arrive with other details such as its release date.
The animated series tend to have a one year gap between its seasons that could explain why hopes are up that “Mo Dao Zu Shi” season 2 will premiere in July because the first season did on July 9, 2018. But without the proper announcement and promotional materials from the producers, it is safe to expect that the series might return later this year.
Unfortunately, there is not much to information that fans could use to estimate a more narrowed down release date window for “Mo Dao Zu Shi” season 2. Various reports also have different speculations. Some believe it will retain a July release date while others suggest it will still premiere in summer but at a later month such as August. There are also speculations that the animated series might even move a little farther in the calendar and return in the fall or September.
“Mo Dao Zu Shi” season 2: What to expect?
The series is based on the novel of the same title (translated as “Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation”) by Chinese author Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. The overall plot focuses on the adventures of the main protagonists named Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji.
Season 1 showed Wei Wuxian was betrayed and killed. He got a second chance in life with the help of Lan Wangji and, together, they went through seemingly endless wars with various clans. Desperate times convinced Wei Wuxian to work with forbidden demonic practices. The plot in “Mo Dao Zu Shi” season 2 is going to be interesting because it picks up from a 16-year time skip where Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are reunited but have no idea who each other is. But the final moments of season 1 implied that the two immediately felt close to one another.
