Iron Galaxy Studios is the studio that was responsible for bringing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to the Nintendo Switch, which many reviewers agree is an incredible port. Granted, it’s a five-year-old game, but this does not take away from the amazing accomplishment. Monster Hunter World, on the other hand, is often considered beyond the Switch. Iron Galaxy Studios disagrees.
Tweeting his thoughts recently on the matter of porting MHW to the Switch, the studio’s CEO, Adam Boyes said that it isn’t impossible. This is in relation to the sentiment shared by a lot of people, including those at Capcom that it would be an incredibly difficult task. Boyes, however, believes that it can be done and tells the publisher exactly this.
“Dear @monsterhunter team at Capcom - we understand that porting the game to Nintendo Switch is challenging but this is exactly what @IToTheG does. Give us a shot & we won’t let you down,” the Tweet reads.
In response to his statement, Boyes was met with criticisms and skepticism, with some users sarcastically saying that he and his team would have to be technical wizards to pull it off. The developer only replied to such statements by saying that while the task would be incredibly difficult, it can still be done.
As Comicbook.com points out, Boyes is displaying a good balance between optimism and pragmatism. He realizes that what he is proposing would be monumentally difficult, which is incredibly important for projects like this. Overconfidence has a tendency of making people overreach, which would the derail their progress.
Then there’s the matter of the game being graphically demanding. Many have pointed out that even powerful consoles like the PlayStation 4 Pro still occasionally run into issues when running the game. The Switch doesn’t come anywhere near that kind of muscle. Then again, as ports of the newest Doom game proves, graphics are not everything.
