Mubadala Energy aims to double production over the next decade, Acting Chief Executive Officer Adnan Bu Fateem said at ADIPEC on Nov. 5, as natural gas accounts for about 70% of the company’s portfolio.

Bu Fateem told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the company is seeking opportunities across the gas business. He did not specify the production level the doubling target starts from, its exact deadline or how much individual projects are expected to contribute.

A December 2025 Mubadala Energy release reported working-interest production of about 450,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2025. The company has not said whether that figure serves as the target’s baseline.

Bu Fateem said the company is considering investments along the gas supply chain and wants to align resources with demand over time. At an ADIPEC panel, he called Southeast Asia “a gas-hungry region,” Energy Connects reported. WAM also reported that Bu Fateem cited rising energy demand as part of the company’s rationale for focusing on gas.

In the United States, Mubadala Energy owns a 24.1% stake in Caturus, which includes the Commonwealth LNG project. Caturus made a final investment decision in May 2026 on a $13 billion facility designed to export 9.5 million tonnes of LNG annually. The company is targeting 2030 for the facility to begin operating.

Caturus announced a proposed expansion in September that would add 7.75 million tonnes of annual capacity, bringing its planned total to about 17.25 million tonnes. WAM’s Nov. 5 report cited a planned total of 16 million tonnes per year; the reports do not explain the difference. Caturus has targeted the early 2030s for the proposed expansion.

Mubadala Energy is also advancing its Tangkulo gas development in Indonesia, where it is working toward first gas before the end of 2028, the company said. It completed the acquisition from Eni of a 15% participating interest in Egypt’s Nargis Offshore Area on Feb. 19, 2026.
