Ms. Russo and Dr. Klein will be presenting to healthcare executives on the topic, “The Role of Physician Leadership in Driving a Transformational Patient Experience” during a breakout session on April 19 at 11:15 am. Ensuring a high quality patient experience matters more than ever before, particularly in the age of online sharing. Dr. Klein notes, “In today’s competitive market, patients are leading the charge, comparing healthcare providers to other service industries, utilizing online health review websites and turning to social media to evaluate providers and facilities on their clinical expertise and service experience. Strong physician leadership aligned with organizational goals are the driving force in making this formula a success.” Ms. Russo adds, “It’s no longer good enough to clinically excel anymore. Physician leaders must have exceptional people and communication skills, and understand how to build trust and gain buy-in across multidisciplinary teams – leading to an transformational patient experience.”
Dr. Klein is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL and received a Certificate in Business of Medicine from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Klein went on to complete his anesthesia residency and fellowship in cardiac anesthesia at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. His professional affiliations include membership in the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, International Anesthesia Research Study and New Jersey State Society of Anesthesiologists.
Ms. Russo has been instrumental in leading Human Resources to be a strategic business partner within NAPA. She has 20 years of progressive human resources experience, including more than 10 years in senior management leadership roles in both for-profit and non-profit healthcare industries. Ms. Russo holds a BA in Psychology and an MBA degree, with an emphasis in management, from Jacksonville State University. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and is currently a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the Health Care Compliance Association.
