“Fuller House” season 5 is going to be the sitcom’s final installment, but it would not go down without a little bit of controversy. Fans may have heard by now that Lori Loughlin, who plays Rebecca “Aunt Becky” Katsopolis, was entangled with the massive university bribery scandal in the United States. This led to her losing several TV movie projects and she is also no longer expected to appear in the Netflix series.
Aunt Becky has only been a recurring character all through the spin-off series. However, she was an important character in the original show. And if this is going to be the ultimate end of the franchise, it would make sense for fans to look for Aunt Becky in “Fuller House” season 5.
There is also a possibility that one of the episodes would include a script to explain where Aunt Becky is and why she will not be making an appearance in “Fuller House” season 5. For one, TVLine suggests that Aunt Becky could be written off by making the character stay longer in New York City to be with Michelle Tanner (Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen).
Loughlin is one of the Hollywood parents named to be involved in college admissions bribery scandal that broke out in March. Shortly after, it was reported that Loughlin will no longer take part in “Fuller House” season 5. On March 13, she and her husband Mossimo Giannulli surrendered to the local authorities after being indicted for allegedly paying up to $500,000 so their daughters, Isabella Rose and Olivia Jade, could be admitted to the University of Southern California.
“Fuller House” season 5 was not the only project that Loughlin lost from the bribery case. It was also announced in March that she will no longer take part in a couple of TV movie productions for the Hallmark Channel. Loughlin and Giannulli have since posted $1 million in bond and are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
Aunt Becky will be missing out on the wedding of Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) and Jimmy Gibbler (Adam Hagenbuch). “Fuller House” season 5 is slated to premiere in late 2019.
